Spring Meeting Minutes (May 24)

The TCART spring meeting was held May 24th at the Archives Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Steve Granger and Susan Stepka hosted the meeting.

The meeting agenda included reports by the secretary and treasurer. A report by the newsletter editor also included a call for submissions to the upcoming newsletter. Deadline for submissions is June 12 and should be directed to Candy Hart (chart@hamline.edu). Old business pertained to the establishment of a scholarship award and the TCART web site. New business included the election of two officers, President and Treasurer. Erik Moore, University of Minnesota, will serve as President and Molly Tierney, Minnesota Historical Society, will serve as Treasurer. The term of office for both positions is two years. Additional new business focused on proposals for upcoming workshops and potential hosts for upcoming meetings.

The second part of the meeting consisted of the following program:

Celebrating Anniversaries: How Minnesota Archives Have Gotten Involved

With the approaching Minnesota State sesquicentennial, it is likely Archives around the state will be tapped for area anniversaries and celebrations. We will hear from three TCART members who have participated in anniversary celebrations for churches, communities and universities. In addition to learning what the organizations did as part of the celebrations, our speakers will share what they learned and recommend for others.

Presenters: Steve Granger, Archdiocese of St Paul and Minneapolis; Candy Hart, Hamline University; Jessica Potter, Blue Earth County Historical Society

The meeting concluded with a tour of the onsite archives of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.
