Scholarship Award for Professional Development

Criteria and Purpose for Selection
Established in 2006, this award supports current members of the Twin Cites Archives Round Table who are students or individuals working with archival materials to attend an archives related regional or national conference, symposium, or educational workshop. The goal of the scholarship is to stimulate greater participation in the professional activities of these associations and to provide continuing education opportunities.

Eligibility
Those eligible for the award must be a TCART member and must be working in an archives or information management field or be a student in a related program. Applications will be evaluated based on a brief statement of intent and by information provided by a contact that can provide a reference for the individual. Recipients are eligible to reapply after three years.

Award
The award consists of up to $250 in support of registration, travel and accommodation expenses associated for a conference, symposium, or a workshop. One scholarship of $250 will be awarded each year. In the event that the selected application does not require the full award, the remainder may be given to a second applicant.

Application Process
The applicant will submit by email the following items.
  • Completed application form
  • Statement of intent (150 words)
  • Contact information for a single reference that can attest to the applicant’s interest and need
All applications should be submitted to the president of TCART by February 1st. The recipient will be notified by March 15.

Selection
The selection will be made by the four TCART officers.

Award Recipients
Following the conference or symposium the award recipient will write an essay for the TCART Newsletter sharing their experience and how the event assisted in their professional development. The recipient will be reimbursed after the conference/symposium/workshop.

Hamer Kegan Award (SAA)

An announcement from the Society of American Archivists:

The Philip M. Hamer and Elizabeth Hamer Kegan Award Subcommittee of the Society of American Archivists seeks nominations for the 2007 award. This award, given annually by SAA, recognizes an archivist, editor, group of individuals, or institution that has increased public awareness of a specific body of documents through compilation, transcription, exhibition, or public presentation of archives or manuscript materials for education, instructional, or other public purpose. To be considered for the award, all nominations must be postmarked no later than February 28, 2007. For the subcommittee to understand the entirety of the nominee’s project, please submit all relevant supporting materials. Examples of supporting materials include books, copies of websites, exhibit information, press coverage and more.
